Matt studied Media Production at the Lincoln School of Media, specialising in Photography in his final year and achieving a 1st class BA(Hons). The next 6 years were spent working across feature films, TV, commercials, corporates, and music promos. Starting out as a camera loader before moving across to the lighting department.

Matt started working as a Director of Photography in 2013, and in spring 2014 took a role shooting in house for Burberry. After shooting fashion and beauty content for Burberry’s TV, online, in store, and social output for 2 years Matt returned to freelance work in spring 2016.

Now shooting a wide range of projects (and with a particular passion for comedy) recent clients include Stella McCartney, Mondrian Hotels, Asahi and Glenfiddich. Matt wrapped on his first feature film “Fortune Cookies”, a family comedy set in Northampton and funded by Children in Need in Feb 2020.

Matt won the British Comedy Guide Pro Production Award 2022 for his work on the comedy web series “Poppy”. He also wrote, directed and photographed “The Operator” short film, winning multiple awards at festivals around the world. It’s available to view online here.

Matt tries to work in a way that is as environmentally friendly as possible. More LEDs, less consumables, keeping single use plastics off set and working with likeminded crew. Matt no longer takes flights for work, and offsets any car travel with Mossy Earth. You can find out more about sustainable filming practices at cutit.org.uk or green-screen.org.uk
